The White Queen Season Finale

So I watched the last episode of The White Queen and was very happy to find out that Henry Tudor would become king. I was rooting for him since episode one. Margaret Beaufort was always my favorite character. In the earlier episodes I was a little skeptical if she was crazy or not, but I quickly came to love her. She is so sure of herself and confident in her ability to one day out put her only son on the throne.

I loved the last scene when Elizabeth’s only living son was returned to her. He tells her that he wants vengeance for the death of his brother Edward. But Elizabeth tells him that fighting only brings death and pain and that he will live in peace with her where no harm will come to him. I really liked that scene because it was where Elizabeth realized that she needed to stop fighting for the throne. It forced her out of her home and into sanctuary and it cost her death of her eldest son. She finally understands that she has suffered enough and she just wants to have a peaceful life with her family. Although, her eldest daughter Elizabeth will marry Henry Tudor she will never be the queen again and she seems to have come to peace with that.

I was really mad at Anne and Richard after they stole the throne from Edward right after the hottest character in the world’s death.

Richard disobeyed Edward’s specific orders and made himself king. I understand that Elizabeth was too paranoid to listen to reason and realize that Richard would have made her son king. But Elizabeth is a mother and she feared for her children’s lives and wanted them to succeed their father on the throne. But overall, I can’t fully blame Richard, Anne, or Elizabeth, but I do blame them for having a lack of communication. If only they had cellphones.

My absolute favorite part of the show is the witchcraft because it always works. At first, I thought the spells that Elizabeth casted where crap and she was crazy to have believed it. But every time she cursed someone, it worked and they didn’t even seem surprised. I love how in shows like The White Queen or Game of Thrones, they’re able to have a fantastic plot lines with so many twists and turns and unpredictable characters, but adding witchcraft just takes it to a whole new level.

Overall, this was a great season finale. The only disappointment is that they are only making one season, but I did love skipping five years in one episode. That was pretty cool.

Great job The White Queen, you will be missed!
